RFI - France 24 media partner of Digital Lab Africa

The two broadcasting channels of France Média Monde are references in term of real-time news in France and at the international scale, especially in the African continent :

Radio France Internationale (RFI) is a radio channel followed up by 40,5 millions of regular listeners (at least once a week, sources : TNS Sofrès, Médiamétrie, Intermédia / 2011 – 15 years old and +). Africa is the main continent of audience, with 33,1 millions of listeners including 24,5 millions in French-speaking Africa, largely due to the development of RFI Afrique.

In 2013, the TV channel France 24 had 41,4 millions of viewers in the world, among them 17,9 millions in French-speaking Africa and 1,8 millions in English-speaking Africa*.

The audience is rising since 2013. In Ivory Coast last year, RFI is the first radio in Abidjan : 55,7% of the Abidjan’s inhabitants listen to RFI at least once a week. France 24 has a large audience as well in Abidjan, with 68,8 % of the people in Abidjan watching the TV channel weekly.

In 2015, France 24 reached 16,3 millions of people via social networks : the TV channel develops new media platforms, especially online formats. It has now become a commonplace for many broadcasting channels today, in search of innovative ways to deliver information and to interact.

See HERE the web documentary Les Grands Moyens (English version) created by the photographer Joan Bardeletti and Investisseurs & Partenaires, broadcasted in partnership with Le Monde Afrique and RFI. The aim of the project is to question people about some of the most persisting received opinions about big development challenges in sub-Saharan Africa. The web documentary is based on reports about five SMMEs that are representative of issues and solutions of the continent.
