The famous Johannesburg media marketplace hosted Tshimologong and the DLA to kick off the 2018 call for projects

From the 14th to the 16th of November 2018, DISCOP, the “One Stop Shop” for B2B content in Africa, organised its 6th edition of its market in Johannesburg. Launched in 2012, the event is now the first content production and distribution industry gathering in Africa, with more than 1000 delegates from 701 companies attending the event from 71 countries in 2018. The Johannesburg market, as well as the Abidjan DISCOP market launched in 2015, aims to bring together leading entertainment brands as well as a selection of content “Made in Africa”, in order to offer sponsorship and co-branding opportunities to companies in need for visibility.

This year, DISCOP hosted the innovation hub Tshimologong and its mentorship programme Digital Lab Africa for the launch of their call for projects on the 15th of November. An occasion for the Tshimologong Precinct and its partner, the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS), to speak and present the DLA as well as the Digital Content Hub in their pavilion.

On the 15th of November, Lesley Williams, CEO of Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct, Erika Denis, Audiovisual Attachée for the French Institute, as well as three DLA winners from previous editions (Baya Ciamala, Jabulile Newman and Feben Elias), were featured as speakers for a DLA press conference, to launch the third edition and give feedback on the previous winning projects.

On the 16th of November, on the DLA’s stand, the team also got to announce the results of “DLA x NEF Animation International Residency”, giving the winner the opportunity to experience a one month international residency in France to develop his/her project in a professional and creative environment.
