South African Twist @NewImages Festival
4-8 April, 2018

NewImages is a place of discovery and experimentation within everyone’s reach, but it is also a meeting place for professionals of the virtual reality and immersive technologies industry!

This year the festival honours the African continent and especially South Africa. Tegan Bristow, director of the Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival, and Ulrico Grech-Cumbo, co-founder of DeepVR, are invited to participate in the professional program of NewImages and to the Immersive Realities Focus organized by the French Institute at Laval Virtual. Finally the 4 VR experiments, produced by Digital Lab Africa & WondaVR for the first « 48h VR Film Jam » in South Africa, are planned during the festival (out of competition). From April 4th to 8th, about 100 spectators, equipped with their VR headsets, will be able to simultaneously test the VR experiments carried out by the 12 young South African creatives who participated to the Jam last October.
