Focus on Tshimologong’s Sound Jam at the Africa Rising International Film Festival

Africa Rising International Film Festival is an event aiming to raise awareness about African Cinema and its impact on economy in African countries and other developing countries, and to offer opportunities of partnership with international companies. Launched for the first time in 2018, in honour of Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu’s centennial, the festival wants to “challenge old norms, while embracing technology and increasing youthful audiences in Africa”.

For this first edition from the 26th to the 29th of November 2018, in Newtown, Johannesburg, the Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct got an occasion to show its young talents: aligning with the screening of the film “The State against Mandela and the others”, the results of the Rivonia Trial Sound Jam that took place at the Tshimologong Precinct in October were announced. The Hackaton to create this Jam was supervised by VR experts, including one currently working with the Digital Lab Africa: Ulrico Grech-Cumbo from DEEPVR.
