After attending the Annecy Animation Festival, DLA winner in the Web Creation category settles down in Paris for a week
After presenting his animated web series project Area Daddy at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Market (MIFA), Nigerian animation artist & 2016 DLA winner in the Web Creation category Ayodele Elegba is in Paris for a week.
During his 5-day stay, Ayodele is hosted by Lagardère Studios, DLA partner & mentor of his animated web series project Area Daddy, in order to work with its team & meet with partner branches of Lagardère Group, such as the youth-targeted animated TV channels Gulli & Gulli Africa.
Meetings have also been scheduled for him to meet with potential partners, including Canal+, which expressed interest in the series project during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival & Market. On this occasion, other potential partners demonstrated interest in the project, such as TV5 Monde, who got ready to sign a pre-sale contract for its 1rst season to be broadcasted across Francophone Africa.
The panel held in Annecy, titled “The African Challenge: how to spot and support Africa’s talent”, and organized by DLA producer Frédéric Chambon during the MIFA Campus, was indeed a success. Ayodele Elegba, joined by his DLA mentor Alexandre Rideau from Keewu Production pitched his web series Area Daddy, and shared insights & feedbacks with the many industry professionals that were attending the presentation. They were joined by South-African animator Matt Torode (Tincup.TV), together with his French coproducer Ivan Zuber (Laïdak Films) who showcased the short Waterloo & Trafalgar, 2015 finalist of the Animation du Monde Annecy/Mifa Pitch competition.
